A 12-year-old boy has died following a chaotic altercation at the Cobbler’s Station apartment complex in Clayton. Police responded to reports of a disturbance involving weapons late Friday and arrived to find dozens fleeing the scene. Amid the confusion, news spread that someone had been shot; officers soon discovered the young victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by Johnston County EMS, the child did not survive. Authorities believe the shooting was accidental as bystanders tried to hide firearms. A warrant was issued for Ty’ryn Anthony Zah’rel Washington who turned himself in to authorities.
