Man charged with the felony exploitation

In a development from Johnston County, Norman Shane Poole, a 52-year-old resident of Clayton, has been charged with the felony exploitation of his elderly mother. Authorities revealed that since gaining power of attorney, Poole allegedly siphoned off nearly $90,000 from his mother’s bank account. This case came to light following a Department of Social Services investigation into the financial activities of Poole’s 79-year-old mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s and is unable to manage her finances. With her account depleted from over $106,000 to just $4,725 within a few months, a court has now stripped Poole of his financial oversight powers and appointed a guardian to safeguard the interests of his mother. This alarming case highlights the need for vigilant oversight in matters of elder care and power of attorney.
