Clayton Officers Save Autistic Child From Drowning
In Clayton, two police officers demonstrated commendable bravery by rescuing a young girl from potential drowning on February 27. This incident took place at a pond on Wildflower Circle, where Corporal B.A. Pope responded to a disturbance call finding two females in neck-deep water. One was attempting to save an autistic juvenile, who was resisting help. Corporal Pope initiated the rescue, with Officer J.D. Barbour arriving shortly to assist. Together, they safely brought the juvenile to shore. The girl was then treated by emergency services. Police Chief Greg Tart praised the officers for their swift and decisive action in a life-threatening situation.
