High Speed Chase

A high-speed pursuit ended dramatically in Harnett County when a driver crashed into a chain-link fence.  The chase began on I-40 in Johnston County, where a state trooper attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle, according to the highway patrol. The pursuit then continued south on I-95, exiting at Jonesboro Road toward the City of Dunn.  The driver lost control while navigating a curve, veered through a private parking lot, and finally crashed into a chain-link fence before coming to a stop in a backyard. The driver, who was arrested without injury, has not yet been identified by police.  The high-speed chase, which saw speeds exceed 140 miles per hour and the driver turning off his headlights in an attempt to evade capture, caused significant damage. Several patrol car tires had to be replaced following the incident.
