Passenger in car arrested for drug possession

In a recent turn of events in Johnston County, a routine traffic stop led to a surprising arrest. On Tuesday afternoon, a deputy stopped a vehicle along US 301 South, near Thunder Road. The search that followed unveiled suspected methamphetamine concealed within a passenger’s purse. The passenger, 46-year-old Rhonda Gayle Strickland from Clinton,  now faces charges including felony possession of methamphetamine and bringing a controlled substance into a jail facility. Alongside these, she’s charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Held under a $27,500 bond, Strickland’s case adds to the ongoing discourse on drug-related offenses in the region.
