Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

In Johnston County, a deputy’s routine traffic surveillance turned into a significant drug bust early Monday morning. At 2:29 AM, on NC 210, Emmanuel Lopez Medina, 28, and Sarah Elizabeth Peterson, 32, both residents of Memory Lane in Benson, were stopped for a vehicle infraction. The stop led to a shocking discovery of a substantial amount of methamphetamine hidden under the driver’s seat, with additional quantities found in Peterson’s purse. Both Medina and Peterson now face multiple charges including trafficking methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute. Medina has further charges related to driving offenses.
