In a incident on Thanksgiving Day, a 7-year-old child was injured after being shot while playing in a yard on Parker Road near Parkertown Road. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reported that an adult heard a “whizzing” sound right before the child sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Authorities later discovered that the shots originated from someone engaged in nearby target practice. The child was promptly taken to the hospital with serious, yet non-life-threatening injuries.
