In Sampson County, Steven Thomas Nickles, a 33-year-old habitual traffic offender, finds himself behind bars once more, this time under a staggering $1.2 million bond. With a history dating back over a decade, Nickles has been charged an astonishing 134 times since 2010, including 24 motor vehicle offenses just this year. His reckless driving peaked early December when he nearly caused a fatal accident involving a family. After a brief hospitalization following another incident, Nickles was arrested again on December 20 for a series of charges including reckless driving and assault with a deadly weapon. Additionally, he faces charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and various other offenses. Nickles is currently awaiting a court date.
