On January 12th at approximately 1am deputies responded to the address of 2581 Holly Grove Rd., Benson in reference to a suspicious person. It was reported a male dressed in all black was walking around a shelter near this address. It was also reported a vehicle at the location was seen with the emergency flashers on. While the deputy was responding to this address, he was advised the North Carolina Highway Patrol had also been contacted in regards to the vehicle at this location with the flashers on thinking the vehicle had been involved in a motor vehicle accident. The Trooper who first arrived notified the Sheriff’s Office he had located the vehicle and there was a deceased male in the back seat of the vehicle, the victim of an apparent gunshot. A crime scene was established and investigators were contacted to continue the investigation. Investigators determined the victim was 57 year old Emmanuel Kwame Gbedee from Durham. At this time no suspect has been identified. The investigation remains ongoing
