A tragic accident occurred Sunday evening in the Bentonville community, south of Four Oaks. David Carroll Raynor, 90, lost his life in a head-on collision on Harper House Road near Newton Grove. Raynor was attempting a left turn when his vehicle collided with an eastbound SUV driven by 47-year-old Rico Jovan Moses. Despite the swift response of emergency services, Mr. Carroll died at the scene. His wife, Erma Raynor, 85, was seriously injured and is receiving treatment at WakeMed. Moses sustained only minor injuries. Authorities do not suspect speed or alcohol as factors, and no charges have been filed.
