Thomas faces charges for the shooting death of Emily Steinhoff, who was assisting her sister, Hillary Lombardi, during a custody exchange. The tragic incident occurred in March 2024 as Steinhoff accompanied Lombardi to retrieve her child from Thomas, the father. Authorities report that Thomas discharged a firearm, striking Steinhoff as she stood on the porch. Lombardi witnessed Thomas recording them through a window before the fatal shot. Thomas bonded out of detention on a $150,000 bond.
