Man Arrested For Obtaining Property By False Pretense
A Johnston County resident lost $802 after falling victim to a plumbing scam. Authorities say the homeowner hired Cameron Elijah Hairston, 25, of Raleigh, through the NextDoor app for plumbing repairs. After receiving a prepayment of $537, Hairston failed to show up as promised. When he eventually returned, he requested an additional $265 for parts but did not complete the job. Investigators report Hairston never came back to finish the work and pocketed the money without delivering any repairs. Hairston has been arrested and charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
