A man faces murder charges following a fatal stabbing at the Baymont Inn in Smithfield. The victim, Sandra Omary Juarez, was discovered by police in a hotel room on Monday afternoon. Despite first aid efforts, Juarez died at the scene. The suspect, Eric Jonathan Nelson, fled but was arrested in Virginia. Authorities say the attack was unprovoked and left a gruesome clue—a severed finger—at the scene, leading to Nelson’s identification. The Flock camera program played a key role in his capture.
