A Smithfield man will spend the next 22 years behind bars after pleading guilty to federal drug trafficking charges. Shaborn Amar Nesbitt, age 37, admitted to authorities that he transported large amounts of methamphetamine from Atlanta to Eastern North Carolina. Law enforcement intercepted Nesbitt’s vehicle in October 2019, seizing nearly two kilograms of crystal meth, cash, drugs, and cell phones. Investigators later linked him to nearly 12 kilograms of methamphetamine, along with heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and mushrooms. Multiple agencies collaborated in the investigation. Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar announced Nesbitt’s sentencing by Judge James C. Dever III.
