A tragic incident unfolded in Harnett County as a freeway collision claimed the life of a 5-year-old child. The crash, involving four vehicles, happened on N.C. Highway 210 around 11 a.m. State troopers report a northbound vehicle side-swiped two cars before striking a third head-on, where the young victim was a passenger. The child’s mother and an 8-year-old companion suffered serious injuries and were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The driver responsible for the crash was flown to Duke Medical Center, with pending charges against them. Notably, alcohol was not involved in this devastating accident.
