Downtown Benson is set to sparkle with holiday spirit as the annual Christmas on Main event takes center stage this Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. The evening kicks off with local stores open for extended shopping hours until 7:30 p.m., offering a perfect opportunity for attendees to find unique gifts.  The festive atmosphere will light up further at 6:30 p.m. with the tree lighting ceremony at Benton Square. Shortly thereafter, at 7 p.m., the streets will come alive with a vibrant parade down Main Street. Adding to the celebrations, at 7:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy a concert in the Singing Grove featuring the Amy Jae (Jay) Band, known for their mix of country tunes and Southern soul.  Throughout the evening, Santa will be available to listen to children’s Christmas wishes in the grove, where visitors can also admire a display of antique tractors and classic cars. Complementing the night’s activities, the Fire Department will be serving s’mores, while the Parks and Recreation Department will offer popcorn, and the Junior Woman’s Club will ensure everyone can enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate.
