In Smithfield, a collision involving a Fire Department ladder truck and a small passenger car occurred while the fire crew was en route to an emergency. The incident took place around 5:15 PM on Tuesday, on South Brightleaf Boulevard near Brogden Road. The driver of the car, though trapped in the vehicle, avoided injury. However, one firefighter suffered minor injuries and was promptly taken to a local hospital for medical attention. At the time of the crash, the fire team was heading to another vehicle accident scene on South Brightleaf at Galilee Road. Smithfield Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
