Smithfield Police are investigating a daytime shooting that took place on Kay Drive, just off South Brightleaf Boulevard. Authorities report that two individuals arrived in a black Ford and opened fire, striking a 23-year-old woman who was not the intended target. The injured woman managed to drive herself to South Brightleaf Boulevard near Wal-Pat Road, where emergency responders located her. She was transported to the hospital and is now in stable condition. Police later found the suspect vehicle abandoned in Selma. Detectives have arrested 17-year-old Zayvion Boone, who faces adult charges in connection with the shooting.
