Drug Dealer Sentenced
A South Carolina man, Gerardo Calzada, has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine and aiding and abetting the crime. Calzada was part of a larger drug trafficking organization moving kilogram quantities of cocaine across the U.S. His arrest came after a traffic stop in Johnston County in July 2023, where deputies found two kilograms of cocaine hidden in cereal boxes, along with a digital scale, a drug ledger, and money transfer receipts to Mexico and Honduras. Calzada confessed to traveling from South Carolina to purchase cocaine and meeting with couriers at least 10 times.
