A police lieutenant in Dunn has been dismissed following a viral video showing him engaging in a street race on U.S. Highway 421. The video reveals speeds reaching 90 mph between the officer’s unmarked Dodge Durango and a civilian’s Dodge Challenger. The incident, recorded on February 19th, occurred days before fatal accidents on the same road. The Dunn Police Department launched an immediate investigation, placing the officer on administrative leave. Chief Cary Jackson emphasized the department’s commitment to high standards, ultimately resulting in the lieutenant’s termination.
