Harnett County Emergency Services Rescue

Kayaker Rescued

From the Harnett County Emergency Services Facebook Page- Our beautiful, exciting and sometimes dangerous Cape Fear River was the location of another great example of TEAMWORK that involved Summerville Bunnlevel Fire and Rescue, Lillington Fire Department, Buies Creek Fire Department, Erwin Fire Department, Dunn Emergency Services Inc., Harnett County Emergency Services (EM, FM & EMS), Erwin Police Department, Harnett County Sheriff’s Office and NC Wildlife. All of these dedicated public servants responded to a water rescue Monday for a missing kayaker on the Cape Fear River.
Rescue Boats deployed from boat landings in Lillington, Buies Creek and Erwin to search from different areas in an attempt to locate a missing kayaker who we can report was found safe and transported back to the Erwin landing and reunited with their group.
The beautiful Cape Fear River is a highlight of our County, but can be very dangerous, and requires lots of resources to keep its visitors safe.
We are thankful for all these employees, volunteers and others who braved the currents, rapids and rocks to safely locate the victim and bring them to safety. Great Job to all involved.
