On July 12th, 2024, deputies from the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office Impact Team conducted a driver’s license checkpoint on Mclean Chapel Church Road in Bunnlevel. At the checkpoint, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata was stopped. When a deputy approached the passenger side of the vehicle, they found Latavyn Craig, born on February 7, 2001, sitting in the passenger seat actively smoking marijuana. Craig was asked to step out of the vehicle, and a large bag of marijuana was found on the floorboard. Upon further search of the vehicle, a black bag containing $17,506.00 in US currency and a Glock 43X 9mm pistol was discovered. Mr. Craig was arrested and taken to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, carrying a concealed firearm, and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia. He was given a $15,000 secured bond and was placed in the Harnett County Detention Center.
