In Johnston County, a severe head-on collision has led to significant disruptions and injuries. Early Thursday, two vehicles, a Volkswagen and a Ford SUV, collided on Buffalo Road near Fire Department Road amidst dense fog conditions. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 AM, causing major delays during the morning rush hour. Emergency response teams, including Wilson’s Mills and Northside Fire departments, alongside Johnston County EMS and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, were promptly dispatched to the scene. The Ford driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, along with the Volkswagen driver, were transported to Wake Med for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
