In a significant drug bust on Interstate 95 near Kenly, Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies intercepted five kilos of cocaine. During the routine traffic stop, officers discovered the narcotics hidden inside a cooler in the back seat of a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Ronny Salinas. Facing multiple charges including trafficking and possession with intent to distribute, Salinas is now held at Johnston County Detention Center with bond set at $500,000. The operation was supported by a Smithfield Police K-9 unit, highlighting effective inter-departmental collaboration in tackling drug trafficking along major highways.
