A Johnston County jury has convicted Gilbert Lee King Jr. of murder and multiple counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. King, one of three defendants linked to the January 7, 2021, slaying of Michael Boyle Jr., has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. Boyle was tragically shot while driving his pickup on US 301 in Charlotte, dying from two gunshot wounds. Evidence presented by law enforcement and expert analysis from the FBI helped secured King’s conviction.
