A major drug bust near West Johnston High School has led to the arrest of 70-year-old Danny “Catfish” Vester Mozingo. Johnston County narcotics agents seized about 170 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, Xanax, prescription pills, and a firearm during a search of Mozingo’s home on N. Pleasant-Coates Road. Because the residence is close to the high school, additional charges were filed for manufacturing and delivering drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. Mozingo, a convicted habitual felon with a history dating to 1981, remains in custody on a $525,000 secured bond.
