Major Infrastructure Update Coming to Smithfield
In Smithfield, North Carolina, a major infrastructure update is in the works as the N.C. Department of Transportation announces plans to replace the aging U.S. 301 bridge over the Neuse River. This bridge, originally constructed in the 1920s, is due for a modern upgrade to accommodate increasing traffic. Slated to begin next spring, the three-year project will introduce a new three-lane bridge. Fortunately for local commuters, the current bridge will remain open throughout the construction period, ensuring minimal disruption to daily traffic. This planning aims to maintain a smooth flow in the area until the new bridge is fully operational.
