In a twist of events in Selma, construction worker Luke Hnatkoich faces charges for allegedly filing a false police report about a stolen vehicle. Hnatkoich reported that his employer’s 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from the Quality Inn parking lot. However, police equipped with OnStar technology located the truck shortly after at a nearby truck stop. Surveillance footage revealed Hnatkoich himself exiting the vehicle. Confronted by authorities, he confessed to fabricating the theft after a minor accident on Interstate 95. Hnatkoich, from Little River, SC, is now held on a $500 bond for the misdemeanor offense.
