Man Killed By Freight Train Identified
Authorities in Selma have identified the man killed by a freight train last week as 40-year-old James Daniel Tyner. The incident took place early Tuesday, October 7, near the U.S. Highway 70 overpass behind Johnston Plaza shopping center. Emergency crews arrived around 5:15 a.m., but Tyner was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Selma Police, evidence indicates that Mr. Tyner was asleep on the tracks when he was struck. No signs of foul play were discovered during the investigation, which officials have now closed. The community remains saddened by this tragic event.
