The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has taken 36-year-old Steven Connor Nelson of Smithfield into custody following serious allegations involving a minor. Nelson faces four counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of first degree statutory sex offense with a child. Authorities say the investigation began after a report was filed on May 16. Due to the sensitive nature of this case and the involvement of a juvenile, officials have withheld further details. Nelson is currently being held on a $900,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
