Officer Involved Shooting in Harnett County
On February 12, 2025 at approximately 1:35 PM, the Harnett County 911 Center received a call in reference to a domestic disturbance involving a subject with a knife threating the caller at 3356 Neills Creek Road Lillington, NC. Deputy Calvin Johnson was dispatched and responded to the call. When Deputy Johnson arrived on the scene, a white male subject challenged him with a knife. After multiple attempts to deescalate the deadly force situation, Deputy Johnson fired his weapon at the suspect in an attempt to stop him from advancing towards him with the weapon. Deputies performed medical treatment until EMS arrived. The male subject was transported by medical personnel to Wake Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. The male suspect has been identified as Leo Warren Reeves, age 31 of Lillington. Deputy Johnson 40, was hired June 17, 2024 by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office and has over eleven years of previous law enforcement experience. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
