Robbery Attempt Ends With Suspect Being Shot By Victim Acting In Self-Defense

A robbery attempt in Johnston County ended with the suspect hospitalized and under arrest after the intended victim acted in self-defense. Authorities say Dominic Dion Robinson, 19, of Garner approached a man in the parking lot of a Speedway convenience store near Interstate 40 and tried to steal his car and belongings at gunpoint. The victim, who was armed, shot Robinson, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Robinson was later arrested and charged with attempted robbery, possession of a stolen firearm, and resisting officers during his arraignment. He remains in custody on a $210,000 bond. The victim faces no charges.
