Second arrest made in drug case

In Johnston County, officials have made a second arrest in a significant drug-related case. 33-year-old Emily Marie McNeal faces charges including four counts of trafficking marijuana after a sheriff’s deputy discovered 30 pounds of the drug in a car driven by Melvin Garrett Benton. Following the vehicle search, authorities conducted a raid on Benton’s residence, uncovering an additional pound of marijuana and about $25,000 in cash. Both Benton and McNeal are now being held at the Johnston County Detention Center with bonds set at $150,000 each. This development marks a noteworthy success in local law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking.
