NC Highway 50 at Surles Road, just south of Benson, was closed after a serious collision involving two tractor trailers and a passenger car early Wednesday morning. Authorities report the crash occurred shortly after 10:00am, leaving one semi overturned and both the second truck and car in a nearby ditch. Three people sustained injuries, though all are described as non-life threatening. Benson Fire responded quickly, securing the scene and containing diesel fuel leaks, while Johnston County Emergency Management assisted.
