A Smithfield man is facing two felony charges after allegedly using fake cash at a Dollar General in Princeton. Authorities say 27-year-old Cedric Jequez Braswell tried to buy Busch Ice beer and cigars with a counterfeit $100 bill on September 2. The cashier unknowingly provided real money as change. After a Princeton Police investigation, warrants were issued for Braswell’s arrest earlier this month. Smithfield officers located and arrested him on Berkshire Road without incident. Braswell is charged with obtaining property by false pretense and uttering counterfeit currency. He remains held on a $15,000 secured bond pending his next court appearance.
