Traffic Stop Turns Into Drug Bust

A man from Clinton, identified as Daquan Brunson, aged 30, was recently apprehended following a traffic stop on Elizabeth Street. Sgt. Christian Simmons initiated the stop due to a suspended vehicle registration, leading to a significant discovery. Upon approaching the vehicle, Sgt. Simmons detected the scent of marijuana. A K9 unit confirmed the presence of drugs, resulting in the search of Brunson’s vehicle. Authorities uncovered 55 grams of marijuana and related paraphernalia. Additionally, Brunson had an outstanding warrant from Bristol, Tennessee. He is currently detained at Sampson County Detention Center, with bail set at $80,000.
