In a tragic incident on Interstate 95 near Fayetteville, a tractor-trailer driver lost his life in a fiery crash Wednesday evening. The accident occurred when the truck’s left front steer tire blew out as the driver attempted to merge lanes near the Godwin exit. The resulting tire debris hit the vehicle’s saddle tank, causing it to ignite and explode. Despite efforts by emergency crews to extinguish the blaze and rescue the driver, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound lanes near mile marker 64 were engulfed in chaos as the truck ultimately collided with the center divider and was consumed by fire.
