The incident involved 47-year-old Russell Lindsey Barefoot, who reportedly lost control of his 2022 Harley Davidson FLTRX. Authorities indicate that Barefoot crossed the centerline, veered off the road, and was ejected from his bike after striking a mailbox. He tragically came to rest in the yard of a nearby residence. Initial investigations suggest that alcohol may have played a role in this fatal crash. Road closures from Reedy Prong Road to NC Highway 50 were implemented as emergency services responded to the scene.
