Two men from Surry County face a range of charges after allegedly stealing over $1,300 in sporting goods from a Walmart in Smithfield. Police responded on November 12, locating the suspects’ vehicle shortly after the theft. Authorities say both men gave false names and were found with stolen goods and a handgun inside the vehicle. One suspect reportedly threatened to kill an officer while being taken into custody. The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the store. Both individuals remain at the Johnston County Detention Center with bonds set at $15,000 each as the investigation continues.
