Wildfire in Harnett County
A fierce wildfire in Harnett County has expanded from 30 to 100 acres, leading to the destruction of a building. After 27 intense hours, the flames have been contained, with no reported injuries. The blaze, known as the Lizzie Jeter Road fire, was tackled by numerous fire departments from Harnett and Moore counties. Crews faced challenging conditions with heavily wooded and swampy terrain. Assistance included forestry plows from Fort Bragg and aerial guidance from the N.C. Forest Service. Officials caution residents to avoid outdoor burning until substantial rainfall occurs to prevent further incidents.
