A Benson-area resident has been arrested on sexual assault charges. Fernando Ambriz, age 35, of Kinsey Road, is charged with five counts of statutory rape of a child, two counts of sex act by a substitute parent/custodian, one count of statutory sex offense of a child, and one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The incident was reported on June 30, 2024, after the victim went to a local hospital for medical treatment. Ambriz was arrested on July 24 and is being held under a $750,000 bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.
