Dunn Man Found Guilty

In Fuquay-Varina, a routine traffic stop for a broken headlight escalated into a high-speed police chase, culminating in significant drug and firearm charges for 28-year-old Demarkee Rayheem Midgette from Dunn. Midgette, who was found guilty by a federal jury, could now face a life sentence. His charges include possession with intent to distribute significant amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, as well as firearm offenses linked to drug trafficking. The chase involved dangerous driving with a minor in the vehicle, leading to heightened concerns about public safety. U.S. Attorney Michael Easley emphasized the peril Midgette posed to both the public and his juvenile passenger during the ordeal. Midgette’s conviction also draws attention to his past criminal record, adding gravity to his current legal predicaments.
