Storm wreaks havoc
Severe weather wreaked havoc in parts of Wake and Johnston counties Sunday night as a powerful thunderstorm brought down trees and disrupted traffic. The storm, which initiated warnings around 6 p.m., led to the temporary closure of sections on both Interstate 40 and Interstate 95. Moving at a pace of 25 mph, the storm caused significant disruptions, including power outages affecting approximately 1,000 customers. Particularly hard-hit areas included near N.C. 50 by McGees Crossroads. Emergency services worked swiftly to clear the debris and restore normalcy, though some residents remained without power into the night.
