Surles

In a significant ruling out of Johnston County, Daniel Antonio Surles has been convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the 2021 shooting that claimed the life of 46-year-old Michael Boyle Jr. The incident, which took place on January 7, 2021, led to Selma police discovering Boyle deceased in his vehicle from two gunshot wounds. Alongside the murder charge, Surles was found guilty on ten counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and illegal firearm possession. After extensive testimony, including evidence from FBI experts, Superior Court Judge Paul Holcombe sentenced Surles to life imprisonment without parole.
